Congratulations to this year’s Valedictorian and Salutatorian
May 15, 2020
This year has been far from what anyone planned it to be. Through its difficult and challenging days, the following two seniors did not deviate from their dream. Their perseverance, dedication, and impeccable work ethic won them first and second place in their senior class. These two students have been friends and classmates since they were in kindergarten and have always strived to excel in all they do with humbleness and great passion. It is no surprise that they would win these prestigious awards.
|It is with great pleasure that we congratulate this year’s Valedictorian, John Carlos Mouw. John Carlos started at Westwood Christian School in eighth grade. He has always been driven by success and perseverance. What sets John apart is his loving heart. We are proud of you and your hard work!
|Another great accomplishment and needs to be equally recognized is this year’s Salutatorian, Marcos Bermudez. Marcos also joined our Westwood Christian family in eighth grade. It is a blessing to see how dedicated and focused this young man is. Congratulations, we are very proud of you!|
We pray your next season is full of joy and success. Always remember, Once a Warrior, Always a Warrior!
We Love Our Teachers!
May 7, 2020
Today the students and parents formed an appreciation parade for all of Westwood Christian School’s teachers and staff. It was a small demonstration of their gratitude and love for this extraordinary group of educators. This school's uniqueness is in their family environment. Today, even through these difficult times, the students and parents joined together to celebrate their teachers and tell them that they are making a difference in their students’ lives. A special thank you to the student ambassadors and the seniors of the class of 2020 for coordinating such a spectacular event!
Till We Meet Again
February 24, 2020
It is with a heavy heart that we share the news of the passing of David Wishart, a long time teacher and friend of Westwood Christian School and First Baptist Church of Westwood Lake. His wife Christine’s text read, “David is with Jesus! We were all together in the room with him. Our time with him while he was still alert was beautiful. Thank you for your prayers.”
David Wishart was more than just a science teacher and cross-country coach at Westwood Christian. He meant so much to our students! Alumnus Emma Thomson Quaglia wrote, “He was my running coach, science teacher, a spiritual hero, and a mentor to me. Soon after his diagnosis, he compared it to running as he often did with difficult things in life. He told me we are all running a race of life that will end. Some turn a corner and are surprised that it is over so quickly. Some can see it coming as they run on a flat plane. He said he felt blessed to know it was coming. He spoke into my life since I was 12 years old and I am so grateful for the way he showed Jesus in every area of his life. He is already so missed.”
Mr. Wishart, thank you for being a living testimony of God’s grace, compassion and love. You will be greatly missed!
