Our Sports

Baseball

Our baseball program is unique because we believe that every member has a God-given talent that they bring to the team. They are focused on working together and becoming the best team they can be. Their persistence, dedication, and commitment will be seen on the baseball field this year. Our warriors press forward and will not back off until they have a winning season!

Basketball

Our goal this year is to bring a new era of Warrior basketball to campus and build a culture of student athletes who work hard and compete even harder! This team will leave a mark in Miami to let everyone know that Westwood Christian Basketball is a force to be reckoned with by putting Christ first.

Cheerleading

The goal of our cheer team is to help get our student body ready to cheer on our sport teams. We love supporting our players. This year we are looking forward to harder stunts and tumbling passes. Go warriors!

Flag Football

Our flag football champions are back to again. Our goal is to continually improve from game to game and secure another winning season for the Westwood Warriors.

Soccer

Westwood soccer is reaching for new heights. We have a wide range of skill sets and past experience represented. Our program continues to grow in size and talent. With our warriors' hard work and perseverance we can compete and be victorious in the district championships while having fun and displaying a Godly testimony.

Softball

Our goal this year is to once again play in regionals. We believe our team can do this through hard work and determination. This season we will play hard, have fun, perfect our skills, and grow together as a team.

Volleyball

Our goal is to go through the entire season undefeated while getting individually better as players. Our team spirit is one of unity, with our main goal being to glorify God with our actions, attitudes, and words - on and off of the court.

Mrs. Viquez is passionate about Early Childhood Education and building strong minds. Her focus is to provide support for both students and families. As part of the preschool curriculum, Ms. Viquez has set an emphasis on experiential learning, focusing on hands-on activities since this provides students with the ability to develop and learn a myriad of skills to help them grow.

I love being able to watch the girls cheer on their classmates and show school spirit. Getting the crowd at games hyped up is our goal. I love the bond and sisterhood that the girls form when being on the team.

I have been playing baseball since the age of 4, and have previously played in a dominican league. I am very happy to be part of this new and upcoming baseball program. My goal for the team is to place Westwood Christian School back on top. Our players will know what competitive baseball is as they also learn how to serve Christ: we cannot do anything if our Lord and Savior isn’t in our hearts.

I've been involved with volleyball in some capacity for at least 15 years, both as a player here at Westwood and as a coach on both the JV and Varsity levels. This is my second year coaching JV volleyball at Westwood Christian. I love learning new ways to teach and play the game. A verse I like to use with my teams is 1 Corinthians 12:14 "For the body is not one member, but many."

As a follower of Christ, I am striving to make an impact in the athlete's lives not only through basketball, but also in life. I love watching the growth of the student athletes and helping them build a foundation through Christ that will last for eternity.

I've always had a true passion for sports and competition. As I've gotten older I've realized that I also have a passion for teaching the games I love to those eager to learn them.

Warrior Athletics

As athletic director, my responsibility is to lead the athletic department, executing its mission, managing its facilities, and overseeing coaches and student athletes. Our goal is to offer a wide range of quality programs which encourage students to compete at a high level while displaying God-honoring behavior, good sportsmanship, and teamwork. During my time as director, we have won the state’s Championship in baseball. In basketball, we have appeared in the state semi-finals and have won multiple regional and district championships.  We have also been district and regional finalists in women’s volleyball. It is a pleasure to be able to minister to our student athletes.

I am excited about this upcoming year and eager to see what God is going to accomplish through Westwood’s athletic program. As a member of the Florida High School Athletic Association, each potential student athlete must complete and return the first three forms below to the school office each year prior to participation. In addition, forms GA4 and EL2 may be required under the circumstances noted.

For “on-time” eligibility and participation, it is vital that you begin the process of completing these forms immediately so that timely submissions can be made and approvals received prior to first practice dates.

Please contact me with any questions you have regarding our athletic programs using the form below, or call 305.274.3380 ext. 226. Thank you for your commitment to Westwood Christian School's athletic department.
