Middle and High School Clubs
Fall of 2018
Yearbook Club
Led by Ms. Laurie Oksanen
This club is open to 2018-19 yearbook staff members to work on pages, collect quotes, take pictures, and edit pages.
Coloring Club
Led by Mrs. Ilka Gonzalez
This club is designed for students who love to create beautiful coloring pages. It offers a great way to relax while listening to Christian music and drawing beautiful scenes.
Word puzzles
Led by Mr. Wayne Hershberger
If you like to do crossword puzzles and word searches, this is the club for you. Take this opportunity to expand your vocabulary.
Board Game club
Led by Mr. Javier Rodriguez
The goal of this club is simply to have fun. We aim to show the enjoyment one can have while playing with others.
Musicians Club
Led by Mr. Eric Tindle
This club is open to all musicians. Whether your background is in vocal, keyboard, strings, or band instruments, all musicians are invited to join us. We explore areas of interest to the club members. Past clubs have had students creating and performing rhythmic improvisation on buckets, practicing for upcoming FBA or FACCS solo/ensemble performances, and watching videos of great or comical musical performances.
Fishing Club
Led by Mr. Ben Powell
This club’s members will enjoy the experience of fishing in the canal adjoining the Westwood Christian School property. Students will enjoy being outside while learning some important techniques about fishing.
I Love WCS
Led by Mr. Sean Fullerton
Students in this club meet together to help support Westwood Christian. We look for projects that we can work on to help make Westwood Christian better.
Girl Talk
Led by Ms. Tiffani Dumpert
We girls know that in our world, there are so many things pulling us in different directions. How do we handle all this pressure? Can we limit it? I mean, do we even make a difference?... Girl Talk is a free space to discuss all the 'girl stuff' in life without the pressure of feeling like you don't fit in and the ease of knowing you are always welcome.
Key to Kindness
Led by Mrs. Jackie Abbott
In honor of former Westwood Christian teacher Mrs. Key who made kindness a way of life, we would like to encourage students to care about others and to give them practical ways to show kindness in everyday life.
Chess Club
Led by Mrs. Lillian Gamarra
This club offers new chess players the opportunity to learn the basics of the game. Those players with more experience will enjoy learning new strategies that will improve their skills.
FACCS Speech and Art Club
Led by Ms. Katie Lynch
This club is an opportunity for students who are interested in acting or art to prepare for upcoming regional and state competitions. Since the club is open to all students grades 6-12 who want to compete, there are lots of opportunities for younger students to learn from their more experienced classmates in the upper grades. Students who want to act will have resources available to help choose a script and a friendly audience with which to practice. Student artists will get the chance to work on drawings, paintings, and other categories in class. Artists will also be able to display their work in February at the annual school art show the night of the science fair.
