Standardized Test Preparation Program Options

Sensa: 

This program is offered at Westwood Christian School during January. SAT Prep class costs about $350-$400. A PSAT Prep class is available in August. The cost of the PSAT Prep class is approximately $350. Website: www.sensaedu.com

University of Miami: 

SAT and ACT prep classes are available once a month during the school year. PSAT prep classes are available in August. These classes take about three weeks to complete, and the cost is about $695. Sign up for the UM class at www.educationmiani.com

Miami-Dade College: 

SAT prep classes are available during January and February.Contact Miami Dade College online at www.mdc.edu/home or call 305-237-2000

Florida International University: 

FIU provides SAT, PSAT, and ACT prep classes through Kaplan. Courses are taught in classroom settings or through private tutoring. Prices start at $700. The contact number is 305-480-0552, and the website is www.kaptest.com.  Kaplan also has courses available online and a free online Quiz Bank consisting of 1,000 or more questions that students can use for preparation 45 days before a test.

Florida Virtual School: 

FLVS offers a SAT prep course online. The course is available year-round. There is no cost to Florida students, and participants can earn a one-half credit. A course description can found on their website, www.FLVS.net. This course takes about 16 weeks to complete.

ACT.Org: 

ACT offers an online test prep program for the ACT test. The cost is $19.95 per student for a subscription. They also offer a test prep book The Real ACT Prep Guide for $25.00. Through the Guidance office you can get a copy free copy of ACT's Preparing for the ACT.  Available online are free sample test, free Test tips and free Test descriptions.  Website Address: www.actstudent.org/testprep/index.html.

College Board:  

The College Board offers an online prep course for the SAT, The Official SAT Online Course consists of 18 interactive lessons covering the SAT's critical reading, writing, and mathematics sections and the PSAT/NMSQT test. College Board offers a number of books and other helpful materials online. The Web address is: www.collegeboard.com.

Private Tutoring: 

Flores Academy is operated by Raquel Flores, an educational consultant and certified teacher. The fee ranges from $50 per hour per student (one-two), $45 per hour for groups of five students, and $40 per hour per student for a group of 10 students. Flores Academy phone number is 305-794-2530.
