Thought for the week
But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.
Jas 1:4
This week I want to focus on “Patience.” Whether it is sitting in traffic, dealing with difficult people, or just simply waiting for a promise from God, we all struggle with patience. Many times we don’t realize we fail until it’s too late. Begin this week focusing on showing patience.
I was reading in 2 Samuel 5 and realized that David had to wait a long time before he was finally King. He endured persecution from the current King, persecution from his own men, and the temptation to rush God’s plan. David remained faithful to the Lord, and was honored for that faithfulness. In hindsight we can see that God was preparing David all along the way to be a Godly King.
Keep the big picture in mind. As the bumper sticker says, “Please be patient with me, God is not finished with me yet.” God is preparing you to accomplish His purpose for your life. God’s goal is for you to be a mature and complete servant of His.
