The Westwood Christian School preschool program is a regular school program. Consequently, your child learns much more than a traditional day care environment. Our curriculum focuses on a number of developmental areas we find important to a child’s success in the academic setting. Here are some facts and highlights about our preschool program:
- We are a Christian school; therefore, we teach from a Christian world view.
- Our preschool is open to 2-4 year olds.
- Half-day as well as full-day programs are available.
- Students learn by playing fun and exciting games
- Many visuals are used to stimulate learning.
- Students learn by saying and doing, not just listening
- Teacher-student ratio
- 2 years old = 2 per 12
- 3 years old = 2 per 20
- 4 years old = 2 per 20
- Teachers have a two-year teaching degree or 120 hours in child development or equivalent courses.
- Teachers and helpers are trained in CPR yearly and in First Aid every three years.
- Teachers and helpers themselves continue their own quest for knowledge by obtaining an additional 8 credit hours in their field each year.
